PORNOGRAPHY AND ITS DEVASTATING EFFECTS

已發佈 : Apr-06-2019

On the 5th Sunday of Lent, Cycle C, we find a familiar story of the woman caught in adultery.  In my homily, I mentioned the set of characters who bring the woman before Jesus, asking the question, "Why they were more interested in catching the woman in adultery, than dissuading her from it?"  This, along with the sounding of the alarm on the very harmful and devastating affects of pornography on many, led me to broach the very difficult topic of pornography and sexual exploitation.  As mentioned in the homily, here are the two books that I recommended and also some source and resource material:

The Porn Myth by Matt Fradd, Published by Ignatius Press, 2017.  Available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle forms.

"Matt Fradd provides insightful arguments, with the latest research, on nearly every subject relevant to porn--from the dangers of the porn industry to the negative effects porn has on the brain.  He equips you to discuss the real harm of pornography and to dispel its myths." --Dawn Hawkins, Vice President and Executive Director, National Center on Sexual Exploitation

The Global Sexual Revolution- Destruction of Freedom in the name of Freedom by Gabriele Kuby, Published by Angelico Press, Lifesite, 2015.  First published in German.  Available on Amazon.

"Mrs. Kuby is a brave warrior against the ideologies that ultimately result in the destruction of man."  --Pope Benedict XVI

"Church urged to take lead in protecting youth online".  Catholic Register, April 7, 2019

National Center on Sexual Exploitation.  This website's aim is to  "Defend Human dignity, oppose sexual exploitation, expose the seamless connection between all forms of sexual exploitation".  On this website, you will find many shocking statistics, resources and advocacy material on the full range of issues dealing with sexual exploitation.
