Documents on the Body and Blood of Christ

Posted : Jun-23-2025

During Corpus Christi, this past weekend, Fr. Maderak mentioned the importance of worthily receiving the Eucharist and the sadness of the fact that the Eucharist and the Mass have become less and less important to so many Catholics.

He mentioned 3 important documents that we should read to remind us of the importance of the Eucharist and the importance of knowing how to receive Christ worthily in this Sacrament. Please read them.

The first, by St. John Paul II, is an Apostolic letter entitled "Dies Domini", which deals with the importance of keeping the Lord's day holy. It can be found at:

The second is, also by St. John Paul II, is "Ecclesia de Eucharistia", which tackles the Eucharist and its Relationship to the Church. It can be found at:

The final document is from the USCCB and is entitled “Happy Are Those Who Are Called to His Supper:
On Preparing to Receive Christ Worthily in the Eucharist" and can be found at:

The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of our Catholic faith. Let us take the time to dive deeper into this mystery and to discover (or rediscover) the beauty of this gift, given to us by our most loving Father, through the Body and Blood of His most Beloved Son.
