EDUCATE YOURSELF ON THE IMPLICATIONS OF BILL C-8 ON CATHOLIC TEACHINGS ON SEXUALITY AND THE HUMAN BODY

Posted : May-20-2020

In case you did not receive a notification regarding this posting in the "News and Events" on our webpage, I am reposting it on my blog, as I think that it is very important that we are all educated on the implications of this new bill.  There are many misconceptions of the Catholic understanding of sexuality and the human body and actively supporting these Catholic teachings may be now grounds for 5 years imprisonment.  Please consider signing up for the webinar that will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 7: 00 p.m.  It will be approximately an hour long and is open and free to all interested.  All information is found in the repost below:

Webinar on Bill C-8 “An Act to amend the Criminal Code (conversion therapy)”

From: Mark Brosens, Communications Manager

The Government of Canada has introduced Bill C-8 to parliament, which will criminalize conversion therapy. The Church does not undertake conversion therapy, because we oppose the use of coercion and other actions that violate a person’s human dignity. However, Bill C-8’s broad definition of conversion therapy means that people and organizations that actively support the Catholic understanding of sexuality and the human body could be found guilty of a criminal offence that is punishable by up to five years in prison.

On Thursday, May 21, 2020, from 7-8 p.m., the Office of Public Relations & Communications is hosting a webinar to explain Bill C-8 and how Catholics should respond to it. Panellists will provide insights from legal, theological, political, psychological and lived experience perspectives.

This webinar is open to clergy, parish staff, Parish Action members and anyone who wants to learn more about Bill C-8. Please register in advance at: https://bit.ly/Bill8Webinar. And please send that link to anyone who may be interested.
